Objectives

The Kobe Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) was established in 1878 as the third oldest after Tokyo and Osaka in Japan.
The organization and operation of the present KCCI are provided by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Law enacted in 1953.
The objective of KCCI, with its 4 branches established in the city, is to foster the overall improvement and development of commerce and industry and contribute to the welfare of the community.
To achieve these objectives, we do the following activities:

  1. Make public the opinions of the members and submit them to the National Diet and Governmental authorities etc., and make proposals.
  2. Submit the Chamber's views in response to inquiries from Government authorities.
  3. Conduct researches and studies relating to commerce and industry.
  4. Collect information and data and issue publications regarding commerce and industry.
  5. Issue certificates, conduct appraisals and carry out inspections regarding the quality and quantity of merchandise, and the business status of enterprises.
  6. Issue certificate of origin for goods to be exported.
  7. Establish facilities on commerce and industry and maintain and operate them.
  8. Sponsor lecturers and seminars on commerce and industry.
  9. Disseminate up-to-date information on techniques and technology regarding commerce and industry and conduct qualification tests.
  10. Hold exposition, exhibition, etc. and render services to do so.
  11. Act as an intermediary and render services in business transactions.
  12. Render services, mediation and arbitration on commercial disputes.
  13. Respondent to requests for consultations and give management and operational guidance to the commercial and industrial establishments.
  14. Investigatethe financial status of commercial and industrial concerns.
  15. Improve and develop the sightseeing industry.
  16. Collect books on commerce and industry and offer them to public perusal.
  17. Conduct works on promotion of International business and International friendship.
  18. Engage in activities conducive to the promotion of the development and welfare of the community at large.
  19. Conduct works entrusted by administrative authorities.
  20. Carry out other activities necessary to attain the objectives of this CCI.
